A IX meteria cost 250 white and X is 500 purple so you will be saving yourself a lot of time. White scrip is where it gets interesting.

Keep in mind white scrip gear is fine. Remember that each scrip gear gets another scrip upgrade in a few weeks, to a level just shy of fully melded omni. It is just almost as painful to farm all 3 gathering scrip sets and upgrades as it is the omni melded itself. Even I may do scrip tools, because I hate overmelding non omni gear.
