City is the best overall. It's like a better version of Asylum (though Asylum is very unique) Origins and Knight are more advanced but they don't catch the atmosphere and tension like the previous games. Knight is of course the most advanced in terms of technology. Best graphics and such.

Arkham Knight’s combat is incredibly slick, but Arkham City is honestly the perfect Batman video game. It’s got the best pacing for changing up the gameplay, the environment is the most interesting to explore, and the characterizations are all pitch-perfect. Knight is objectively the best one gameplay wise.

Starting with Origins, Batman Arkham series became darker, more mature, cruel and serious, as Batman games should be. Origins and Knight just have much more darker atmosphere than Asylum and City. I like all 4 games, but the last two are just incomparable because they are stylistically better, but it's just my IMO.
